TETRAS FQA
General Questions
What is the EIBOS Tetras and how does it work?
EIBOS Series X: Tetras is a purpose-built upgrade that adds advanced drying functionality to the Bambu Lab AMS while preserving its original integrity.
Is Tetras compatible with Bambu Lab AMS1 and AMS2?
EIBOS Series X: Tetras is compatible with Bambu lab AMS 1, not in AMS 2
Do I need to modify my AMS or printer to use Tetras?
Without breaking the original AMS, just a little modifications required.
Replace the entire top cover (4 screws in total) and install new foot pads. The controller and power supply need to installed on the Support Frame. The whole process only requires screwing, and no holes or other tools are required.
Can I use Tetras without an AMS?
No. Series X: Tetras is an upgrade for the AMS 1, so an original AMS is needed. But We will open versions for more multi-color systems in the future. We will also consider more options for DIY users or users who do not need a multi-color system.
Features & Functionality
What is dual-stage drying?
The program allows the user to set two completely different drying parameter stages. When the first stage is completed, the program will automatically run the set second stage without the user having to perform manual operations.
Can I print while drying in all three modes (Single-Stage, Second-Stage, and Humidity Mode)?
Yes.
Tetras is compatible with the function of printing and drying in all three stages.
Will the temperature in one chamber affect the adjacent ones?
There are two different situations in this question, and we will discuss this based on actual test situations.
Situation 1: Cavity A is turned on and set to 65°C. Cavity B adjacent to A is not powered. In the actual test, after Cavity A reaches the set temperature and continues to work for 5 hours, the test temperature of Cavity B is 42°C.
Situation 2: Cavity A is turned on and set to 65°C. Cavity B adjacent to A is turned on and set to 55°C. In the actual test, after Cavity A reaches the set temperature and continues to work for 5 hours, the test temperature of Cavity B is 56°C.
Will incorrect Type-C connections affect device functionality?
Tetras can only work properly under normal wiring.
Wrong wiring method may cause the machine to not work properly.
There may be two different situations:
Case 1: The port of Type-C does not match the corresponding port of the device (Screen-Power-Control). In this case, Tetras will not be started.
Case 2: Type-C does not link the components according to the cavity. In this case, the device can be turned on. The devices connected by Type-C will form a control group. Take the following situation as an example.
eg1. The 'Control' of cavity A is connected to the 'Control' interface of cavity B, then the parameters of cavity B will be set through the screen of cavity A.
eg2. The Screen of cavity C is connected to the Screen of cavity D, then the parameters of cavity C will be set through the screen of cavity D.
How does Tetras perform simultaneous printing and drying?
Use collapsible tabs for more detailed information that will help customers make a purchasing decision.
Ex: Shipping and return policies, size guides, and other common questions.
What is the purpose of four independent chambers?
In our actual use, we realized that the choice of filament is often different when using AMS to print. This difference is often not simply reflected in the type of filament, but more importantly, for example the age of the filament, the environment in which the filament is stored, and the quality of filament of different brands.
Dividing the AMS into four independent chambers allows users to make better choices --- this choice can be made according to the actual situation and the status of the filaments. At the same time, the independent system buttons can also allow users to set more matching parameters such as temperature and time of each chamber.
How does the humidity control system work?
Once the drying has finished, Tetras is able to automatically switches to humidity mode, maintaining ideal storage conditions based on your preset RH target.
What materials is Tetras compatible with?
Because Tetras is an upgraded product based on AMS, all materials that can be used in AMS can still be used after installing Tetras.
Installation & Setup
How do I connect Tetras to my AMS or printer?
The entire installation process is not complicated and can be completed in about 10-20 minutes (mainly the time to determine the parts, the actual operation does not take too much time.). We will include a complete and detailed installation process in the manual. We will also provide a complete video installation tutorial.
Are the Screen Module and Power Module fixed in position?
Among the parts included in the product, we pre-assembled the Power Module and Screen Module. The assembly positions of these two modules are fixed.
Can I adjust the viewing angle of the Screen Module?
Yes, the viewing angle of the Screen can be adjusted. Each screen is independent, user can adjust the angle for each screen base on their need. The Screen adjustable angle is from 60°- 130°.
What is the maximum lid opening angle?
The Maximum lid opening angle is 80-85°. We chose a hinge with a certain degree of damping in the structure. When opening and closing at this angle, the upper cover will not close automatically.
Does the Upper Cover Module include a handle?
No.
The Upper Cover Module does not include a handle. Due to the need to ensure the sealing of the structure and minimize the shipping volume (the current volume is not small). This makes it impossible to add a handle to the current design. But hey, you know what? Why not use a 3D printer to design a handle that belongs to you? Wouldn't that be a cool thing?
Usage & Maintenance
How do I set drying times and temperatures?
To set drying parameters, press the “SET” button to cycle through the available options: drying temperature, drying time, power level, and mode selection. When a setting starts blinking, use the “Up” / “Down” keys to adjust the value.
Drying Temperature Range: 20°C – 65°C
Drying Time Range: 30 minutes – 24 hours
Drying Power Levels: Low / Medium / High
To select a filament type with preset parameters, press the “OPTION” button and scroll through material profiles such as PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, or custom modes (M1 / M2).
You can also enter temperature calibration mode by holding the “OPTION” button to fine-tune temperature accuracy.
To switch between °C and °F, press and hold the “SET” button for 5 seconds.
Can Tetras be set for continuous drying/storage?
Yes.
Tetras can be set to run for an unlimited time. This setting is not available in the first stage drying settings interface but can be enabled during the second stage drying process.
Why 65℃ is the highest temperature?
Since the label on the edge of Bambu lab's reel requires the drying temperature of the consumables to be less than 70℃, we believe that this is the temperature that the filament spool can withstand under the test standard. In order to ensure the safety of the consumables and the consumable reel, we set the upper limit of the temperature to 65℃ to ensure the stability of the AMS cavity and filaments.
Does Tetras support wide voltage input?
No, Tetras is not wide voltage compatible. We offer two different input voltage options: 110V and 220V
What is the total power consumption when all chambers are active?
If only one cavity is in working state, the maximum power is 60W. When all four cavities are turned on, the maximum power is 240W.
Will using third-party accessories or modifications on 3D printer affect the compatibility or function of Tetras?
It will not affect the function of Tetras, but it may affect the installation position of Tetras to a certain extent. For example, the placement of Panda Pad form BIQU may affect the sight of 1-2 screens of Tetras.
If one control panel fails or is paused, will it affect the others?
No.
Because each screen is relatively independent, the issue of one screen will not affect other screens or controls.
